— A Long Journey from the North Pole —

In February 2020, after casting Elf the Musical, the theatre (well, entire) world came to a screeching halt. We at HLOC boxed up our ribbons and boxed up our bows, put the trees in storage and boxed up the show. 5 years later, we are very excited to finally bring Christmas in July to Humboldt County and hope you will join us in spreading Christmas cheer for all to hear. Sign up now for auditions. The show will run July 25th through August 10th at the Van Duzer Theater at Cal Poly Humboldt.

The very important tech weeks will be July 14–24. Rehearsals begin June 9th.

All parts are open with the exception of Buddy. Auditions are open to all ages 7 and up. Please note: this is an adult production and there may be a limited number of opportunities for those ages 7–10

Where Stories Come Alive!

In December of 1973 when the curtains went up on the first Humboldt Light Opera production of Amahl and the Night Visitors, the company founders probably had no idea how successful the organization would become.

Although community is not in our name, it has always been at the heart of our organization. Our goal since 1973 has been to bring musical theatre to the people of our community – not just as a viewing experience, but also as a performing experience for those who have dreamed of taking the stage themselves.

Our Story

Healthy aging is a lifelong process that encourages enrichment, independence, social engagement and—fun! Program classes are taught by experienced instructors who enjoy working with all ages and levels of mobility. New Session starts February 24.
